Projects > What's Here

The works in What's Here explore the formal character of found wood and simple geometry. Every material used in the work has a history. Weathered by the native elements of New Mexico and the passage of time, they are unique and un-repeatable. Thus, the landscape has etched it's signature on each object and they have been invested with the soul of this place.

Triangles and hexagons have been chosen for their simplicity, symmetry, logic and strength. They are non-traditional art formats, but familiar as common symbols of social order (such as traffic signs) and thus convey inherent authority.

What's Here has two meanings: 1. the use of things I find nearby (often on my property). 2. the question; what is the nature of this place? (here).
